My mom has always made this cheesy sausage casserole for us on Christmas morning, and we look forward to eating it every year. It is so delicious, and everyone enjoys it! You can use croutons instead of making toast, and sage sausage for a different flavor.

Quickly get back to the fun Christmas morning, by having this Christmas Breakfast Casserole prepped the night before – simply throw this tasty tray into the oven to bake!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of ground pork sausage
  • 1 tsp of mustard powder
  • ½ tsp of kosher salt
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 6 slices of white bread, toasted and cubed
  • 1 cup of mild Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Instructions :

Start by crumbling the sausage into a medium-sized skillet and cook over medium heat until evenly browned. Drain the excess oil.

In a separate bowl, combine mustard powder, salt, eggs, and milk.

Introduce the browned sausage, cubed bread, and shredded cheese into the mixture. Stir until everything is coated evenly.

Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.

Cover the dish and leave it to chill in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.

When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Cover the dish and bake for 45 to 60 minutes.

After the initial bake, uncover the dish, reduce the temperature to 325 degrees, and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until set.

Slice into serving portions and enjoy!
